I don’t have the best work life balance. I’m guilty of staying in my classroom too late, picking my son up too late, eating dinner too late, then being too tired to do much of anything once arriving at home. I know other teachers will understand.
I’m not one for making new year’s resolutions, but I always to try pick a mantra word for each year, and this year I’ve chosen “balance.” I’ve been trying to think of how I can best manage this. Blake has 2 appointments throughout the week so it’s necessary I leave two days a week at certain times, but since the timing is all over the place, I knew I needed to think of a different reminder than just putting it on my calendar. Then suddenly, I had an idea! A daily timer, where I could add fun songs for each one!
On the days Blake has Speech or OT, I’ve set the song to “About a Boy” by Badly Drawn Boy. On my yoga day at the YMCA, it’s aptly playing “YMCA”, and on Wednesday, our mommy and Blake date day, it plays “Home Life” by John Mayer. The song choices were really important to me because I’m the girl who likes to hit “snooze” a few times in the morning. The specific song choices will serve as the perfect reminder of why I’m doing what I’m doing.
I’m really excited about this and trying it out!
